Abstract |

The present invention offers a front suspension and
steering system for cycles and motorcycles. A mainframe (116) with two front
wheels (102,104) and one rear wheel (108), the front wheels (102,104) have
flat surface tires, a 2-axial hub, having a wheel axle (110) to support the
two front wheels (102,104) and a tilting axis (204) below the wheel axle
(110), a steering arm, having a tilting axle, the tilting axle can rotate in
the tilting axis (204) when the steering arm is tilting, the steering arm is
connected to the mainframe by two wish bones (118) and can rotate in the
steering axis. During turning, the body and the rear wheel (108) are tilting
to the side of turning to keep the center of gravity on the side of turning
to balance the centrifugal force, but the front wheels (102,104) and the
2-axial hub do not tilt, such that it is more stable and safe during turning. |

The invention relates to a device that comprises: a
chassis (100); a tiltable frame (200), a passive hinge (300) that enables the
inclination of the frame relative to the chassis; and a hinge blocking means
(400). The device further comprises: an accelerometer (500) for measuring the
transverse acceleration to which said tiltable frame (200) is subjected, and
a control circuit for activating the locking means when the transverse
acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold. The invention also relates to
a vehicle provided with said device, in particular a tricycle. |

The device has a non-motorized passive articulation
(300) permitting inclination of an movable frame (200) with respect to a
front steering axle or rectangular chassis (100), and locking units
constituted of double effect jacks (400) for locking the passive
articulation. An accelerometer (500) is arranged on the movable frame for
measuring transverse acceleration of the frame in a direction perpendicular
to a plane. A control circuit e.g. microcontroller, activates the locking
units when the transverse acceleration exceeds a predetermined threshold. |

Abstract |

The invention discloses a front wheel
tilt-preventing front suspension and steering system for bicycles and
motorcycles, wherein a frame is provided with two front wheels and a back
wheel, the front wheels are provided with planar ground surfaces, a
double-shaft hub is provided with a wheel shaft for supporting the two front
wheels, a tilting bearing is arranged under the wheel shaft, a steering arm
is provided with a tilting shaft, when the steering arm tilts, the tilting
shaft can rotate in a titling shaft core, and the steering arm is connected
to the frame through a pair of wishbones. During a turn, the steering arm, the
frame and the back wheel tilts towards the turning side so as to keep the
gravity center at the turning side to balance the centrifugal force, but the
front wheels and the double-shaft hub do not tilt, so the turning is
comparatively smooth and safe. |

In accordance with the present invention a vehicle
comprises a tilting section and a hanging section both connected to each
other. When the vehicle is stationary or traveling straight, gravity will
pull the hanging section downwards which will stabilize and keep the tilting
section upright. When the vehicle is turning, centrifugal force will swing
the hanging section outward and tilt the tilting section inside the turn. |

A three wheeled car comprises a rigid tiltable
assembly containing a driver's cockpit 13 and a tyre 12 which is driven by a
power unit contained within rear section 10. The whole assembly is rotatably
attached to a conventional front section 15 by rotatable assembly 16.
Backwards and forwards movement of foot pedals on device 17, is translated
into clockwise or anti-clockwise tilting of the tiltable assembly by
rotatable assembly 16 which contains freely rotating bearings, attaches
cockpit 13 to front section 15, rotates cockpit 13 in relation to front
section 15 and contains a chamber for inter-connection of controls and
services. Non-tilting controls are operated from handlebar 18. The tilting
action steers the car in the direction of tilt and is self-centering. Tilting
is controlled by the hands in alternative embodiments.; Various power,
transmission, braking and suspension units can be provided in rear section
10. |

In a curve-leaning vehicle whose vehicle body is
leaning inwardly when the vehicle is negotiating a curve, the vehicle body is
supported on an axle frame for pivoting about a longitudinal vehicle body
axis. The axle frame has wheels which are independently supported by springs
and includes an actuator for tilting the vehicle body inwardly when the
vehicle is negotiating a curve. The actuator is operatively connected to the
spring support structure for controlling spring forces such that the axle
frame remains essentially level when the vehicle is negotiating a curve. |

A three-wheeled vehicle is disclosed having two
front wheels connected by means of an axle and a single powered rear wheel
centered between the two front wheels. A steering column is connected to a
frame which supports the engine and the rider, and the lower end of the
steering column is pivotally connected to the front axle assembly. Foot
pedals are provided on either side of the engine frame--one is for
acceleration and the other is for braking. Both foot pedals are attached to a
support which is connected to the front axle assembly. The bottom of the
engine frame is pivotally connected to a yoke at a location rearward of the
front wheels. A power-actuated mechanism banks the steering column and engine
frame about an inclined bank axis when the vehicle is turned to enhance the
stability of the vehicle and the comfort of the rider. |
